I've been an avid 3D enthusiast for as long as I can remember, been designing in 3D since the mid-80's. 3D printing seemed a natural fit, so I purchased a Thing-O-Matic kit in November 2011. Sixteen hours after I cut the packing tape I attempted my first print and it was nearly perfect! I have great admiration for the early MakerBot designs, they were 'elegant' for lack of a better term. As of May 2016 I purchased and built a SeeMeCNC RoStock Max v2. It's a delta printer and it's fast! It took a little longer to put together but it has a massive build area, couldn't be happier!
I use Cinema 4D for my design application, it has just the right mix of tools for what I need. I use a Kinect/Skanect combo to digitize rough models, I'm still looking at other 3D scanners but haven't found one I want to invest in or build at the moment. I have a degree in electrical design so I use 3D printing for a lot of small electronic projects. My daughter 'commissions' me to create items for her cosplay costumes, one of our best collaborations has been a RotJ Thermal Detonator.
I love challenges so if you have a tough item to model leave me a comment, you just may be surprised with a response. Hope you enjoy my designs, leave comments if possible, I'd like to know what you think!
