HI Skimmy,

ich würde gerne 40 mm Lüfter verwenden kann man da was machen ? die 50 mm Lüfter sind etwas zu groß finde ich .

Did you tried modifying it for making magnets enclosed in? like put them mid-print and close them by top layers?

werde ich hier bewusst ignoriert?^^ :(

Looks like one was made I saw Aufsatz_Hexagon_Mount might work for you?

How much Z height do you loose compared to the Sparkcube original carriage?

I can not compare the it to the original mount, because I don't have one.
But with my magnetic changer, the tip of the nozzle of my E3D is 86mm below the upper side of the x-carriage.

I think, you loose something around 30 to 40mm.

Thanks! I took my gauge and measured it and you will loose 35mm compared to the original carriage in Z height. But it does fit the original carriage, right?

Yes. It is especially made for it.

Yes. It is especially made for it.

ever considered to expand to a magnetic bed?

What if you also used the magnets for the electrical connections and make it a one attach hook up!
use a wiring harness to have it be a one connect.

One Connector is easy to do, BUT I like it modular.

Magnets as connectors will not work. At least not the types I have. There are Connectors, that snap together magnetically, try these instead.

Easy Ultimaker E3D mount

some tips for printing? upstanding, with supports?

(looks great, i would wish you could design it with a 90degree base-plate to mount on a prusa-rework x-carriage with 4 holes)
great thanks. toz

Great job! I thinking about trying something similar on my mini kossel. Did you experiment with any other magnet sizes, and do you think you could have got away with a smaller diameter magnet?

First, I learned, what the influences on the magnets magnetic force are, then, I ordered look-to-the-right-and-start-counting ... 14 different shapes and sizes of standard neodym-magnets and took the second-strongest ones.

I would not recommend, using smaller ones.

But I can tell you rules of thumb:

  • round magnets have higher force/mass ratio than the ones with corners
  • round magnets should be AT LEAST half as thick as their diameter. Flatter = worse.

So, 10mm dia round magnets should 5mm thick or more.

The hexagon-version works perfectly with my Merlin-Hotend.
