This reminds me of Watara Supervision for some odd reason :)

oh, lol - didn't know there was a gameboy clone out there that looked that similar - but it only looks the part, the controller on this design is actually separate :-P

If anyone can 3d print me a certain case, I'm willing to pay big. Please let me know
Email address is macabre666@live.com

why not turn to 3dhubs for a printer in your area - or more commercial services like shapeways and the like?

also, does this have a battery and a speaker?

Excuse me, does this have L and R buttons on the back?

Hello. I'm willing to pay you, just for the download of the stl files, if you can make housing with shoulder buttons and big enough to fit a raspberry pi 2. That or tell me what I could remove from the b 2 to make it fit, like remove two USB ports, remove the ethernet port, take out the headphone jack etc. And also add a space for a speaker. But the shoulder buttons and speaker at least are a must. Seriously. Name your damn price. Please email me at macabre666@live.com and let me know. ANYONE.

this design has no battery and no speaker intentionally :-)
shoulder-buttons are not included because of the size... i'm thinking about a second controller design with those...

your're aware that this case it for the raspberry A+, theres no way to fit a Pi-2 in there - for that see [this](http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:816476 )
theres even room for a flat lipo battery, and if you like a speaker...

Pi Boy Portable

How big of a print area is needed? Also, did u make this in 123d? If so, can u post the 123dx?

its raspberry-pi-A+ sized, so basically any of the common FDM printers can handle it

and no, this was done in blender

I thought you couldn't use hardware acceleration with the Adafruit screen hats - or is there a workaround for that?

the adafruit display gets its data through SPI (bottleneck!), from a kernel module that exposes a new framebuffer device (fb1) - which in turn gets its data copied (fbcp) from the hardware accelerated main framebuffer (fb0) - so it is slow (~20FPS) but still useable with the small resolution.

thats one reason i used a hdmi display for the bigger brother - real unhindered hardware accel :-D

the adafruit learning articles for that display and the pitfts in general are a good read

Pi Boy Portable

This is literally amazing. Could u pls add a kickstand on the back of the screen? that would be really functional and also make a locking mechanism of some sort to keep the backplate connected to the screen and controller. Also what would this be like with a 3.5" screen? which would allow back buttons on the back to play snes games.

That would also up the controller size and allow a speaker to go in there. Just my thoughts but could make it a lot more functional :D And would probably allow a Raspberry Pi 2. Then you probably could call the new design the Piboy Plus?

thnx - glad you like it :-D

yeah, i'm not to happy with the backplate as it currently is - there will be a re-design (maybe even with some sort of joint to have it act as a stand... just have to have a good idea :-P)

if you're looking for something bigger (to stuff more features into) - have you seen the Pi-Boy portable? it's the predecessor to this design - build around a 5" display and a rapsberry2 (with room to spare where you could put a speaker, a flat battery, ...)

Pi Boy Portable

Hey yeah i saw that design i just like the Gameboy design of this one. So yeah, i would love to help you upgrade this design :D You could use a slide lock design to lock them together? but that could snap.

Comments deleted.

are you still looking for a upgraded design? why not do a remix? :-)

take one of the raspberry2 models here on thingiverse and a model of the 3.5" screen you where considering as references

they have currency on planet squirrel? ;-)

for the one i build the bill for all the non-printed parts came in around/less than 15€ for the controller and roughly 55€ for the screen-block

compact Pi-TFT&A+ case

im in the US. and i meant the tech parts, aka the guts. so i take it about $70? and lol, very funny with the planet squirrel joke :D.

yeah, somewhere in that ballpark seems correct - just go on a shopping spree in adafruits store, they've got most of the stuff :-)
even similar buttons (NOTE: holes might not fit!) and the same joystick

What does it do? Does it play games? Is it a controller? I'm kind of confused.

yes it does. (just kidding :-P)
this is the controller+back-frame, combine it with the pi-tftcase (see "thing info") to get the complete pi-boy

Wow, that is great. Amazing job! Definitely going to share on this weeks 3D Hangout!! - N+P

uh - wow, thnx :-D

just added some pics of the insides - might be interesting
