I had the same coin idea when I was designing a tool for removing/putting in track spikes, but my measurements were slightly off and I never bothered to fix it. Glad to see someone got it right though.

there is many useful applications where the standard pla/abs is just not strong engouh... and pressfit washers, coins or nuts can be used as contact surface...

Hmm, it gets me thinking: Would it be possible to heat the inserted coins with a soldering iron in order to slightly melt the surrounding plastic, thus permanently embedding them?

i made the slots just very tight. the coins need to be hammered in. and they stay there forever.

You can make the opening a little smaller and pause your printer when printing to insert the coin :P that way it will be sealed forever in the model
