Sorry, I guess I should have read the instructions

Is there a right and wrong way to install the hinge arms?
What is the proper orientation?

I have now uploaded the Solidworks 2010 files too.

I can upload the Solidworks 2010 files if you guys want?

AWESOME - I have been "thinking linkage" the last few weeks, want to make a mount for my iPad to the front of the SMART car dash, covers the dash when up, but when pushing the iPad down it should rotate down and away so it is still readable.... now I have to try inverting your linkage somehow and put a spring load on it.. Ahhh, gotta love problems not yet solved. Thank you for the inspiration.

Yay! A fellow Smart car owner. :D I have been toying with a mount for the place between the speedometer and the AC/Radio.. Like a wedge or something.

I'm also a Smart owner, and would be interested in your designs, please post them when done/while in progress... :)

Im thinking to mount to the dash in front of the radio and the buttons, the thought is a shape piece, about 2 inch wide, which conforms to the shape of the dash rounding so it carries the weight. one on each side of the console, I think it need to be fixed with a thin screw which would not ruin the fabric. each of the shapes have two holes for the arms, finally a cradle-frame for the iPad so it can easily be removed, the object to make break-ins less interesting, particularly for soft-top owners in LA. :-)

Whats slowing me down is attaching this to the dash.. I wanted something simple and easy, preferably the original thought was "hookable" so it could be removed in seconds.

Basically a iPad doubles as a fantastic entertainment center in a Smart four2, navigon blows away my old garmin at the moment
.. love using it, but it sucks laying on the passenger seat.. need to look professional.

Maybe I should draft up and print a prototype, post a project, then everybody can start making mods :-)

adapting this to rubbermaid tubs tonight! Thanks!

Very cool! Love anything with a 4-bar linkage in it.
