This works great! Just printed one with 1.6mm shell, and 30% infill. No damage after one open! Hoping it lasts for many more!

I make these to give out to people. Was at a bar and the bar tender took interest in my 3D prints I had brought to show a friend and wanted to try this. He felt that it was a great bottle opener, and as he has used a lot of bottle opener, his comments meant it was a winner. I gave him (he was pretty excited) a PLA one and will bring a PETG one next time I go there. Thanks for the good model and something easy to use to promote 3D printing!

Freakin love this thing! wanted to be able to print something and show it off everywhere ago. What other way than with a printed opener! Thanks for the awesome design, cheers!

(ender3, esun PETG transparent blue, 240F nozzle, 80 bed (glass) 80% infill)

Prints without support, has opened its first 6 bottles successfully... Will let you know if the PLA breaks...

Works really well, but needs some more meat on the top. Some of these openers I've printed tend to crack in the middle.

The looms dance. They dance, compelled by the music that flows through them. They dance, but they don't know why..

.. I do.

I've got one of your bottle openers on the Prusa. I am very much looking forward to how it turns out.

I can't wait to try this model, but one question: What do you know about No-Li? It's pretty much my favorite brewery (Rock Bottom's a close second though)!!

No-Li is semi-local to me, they are pretty great (I'm from Portland), sadly I have not seen them in stores as much lately

Made it. It works. Well done!

Best bottle opener ever. If I posted each of my makes there'd be about 3x as many makes as there are currently. The only issue I have is how to keep them disappearing from the pegboard at work, apparently other folks like a good bottle opener design as well!

Nice thanks!

Is there any way I can get this as an STP or some other part file? Fusion360 does not like SLDPRTs unfortunately... Please? :) great feel in your hand, BTW. I want one with my name on it!

As baysail wrote "By far the best opener out there. Thanks for the model!"

By far the best opener out there. Thanks for the model!

What orientation do you recommend for printing?

I find printing it on it's side there is too much overhang on the large internal curve which causes the outline to air print. I have tried supports but no luck.

I print them on using the longest edge down (like in the render of the part file) and have had good results with 0.1mm layers. If the curve/roundness of the handle is too much for your printer, try cutting off the bottom 1-2mm. This is easy to do in in Cura, but I am unsure of how to do it in other slicers.

If that's not the curve you are talking about, or you are still having trouble post back here and I'll see if I can modify the model slightly.

If you could, that would be awesome. I tried cutting off 2mm, it worked but not symmetrical...
Cheers Matt

Nice design, best one I've seen so far. It's great to see people using 3D printers for the important things in life.

Yep! Super best!! i'm a bartender and have been using it for 2 months at work still staying strong!

Hi there. Just curious - Did you use PLA? ABS? PETG? What infill did you use? How long did it last?

Good to hear!

I don't know why there aren't a bunch of comments on this thing - it's awesome! I made several of them, and haven't had one fail yet (we have a big family and the openers get a lot of use). I really love the fact that it fits so snugly and preserves the bottle cap in pristine shape - if you want to re-cap a bottle overnight the cap can be pressed back on and it is still air-tight. Congrats on a great design!

Thanks Geoff,

I think there may be too many other bottle openers on thingiverse for anyone to take notice, for now I am happy enough with just having a great opener. I also printed out 10 or so and give them to friends when they complain that they can never find an opener.

Good point about re-using the caps, I am going to put that in the description.
