So i think this thing is demonic. I load it into S3D and the bird just follows me... like... the body of the bird follows where ever i move the mouse! it just twists and bends! ITS FREAKING CREEPY!

What slicer did you use to generate such functional support?

Hello! I've noticed on the stl that all of the surface normals are inverted. This has caused some issues with me trying to print it out on a Rep2 using Makerware.

I FIXED THE NORMALS, here's the file http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1198389 thanks for pointing it out!

Bird (for putting on things) Correct Normals

That's weird brace that's exactly what I used. I will look into it.

How well do you think it would work to split this to print without supports? I'm thinking the legs can print as they are fine, and then take the body, split it in half down the longest axis, and print each half of the split as the base. If you don't object, I might try to do this sometime in the next month or so. Very nice model!

Please go right ahead. I'm working on something large at the moment so I don't know when I would get around to it.

This was printed at 0.1 mm?

good work, you got a great finish on the print might have to look into getting a rep2.
has the finished bird been cleaned with acetone ?

Nope. Just took it off the plate and removed the supports and that's what you see here. No sanding or anything. I will try to add the thing file if I can find it so you won't have to slice it if you have a Rep2.

wow nice work man, how did ya get it so smooth in a rep 2 ? :O

When working with Blender and STLs, it's handy to set up a proper scene with the real-world units and scales applied. Then there's no "gotta scale up" or "gotta rotate 90" hassle every time you want to export and use the model.

This makes sense for bolts. Artwork on the other hand may not have any particular size in mind.

Loving the quality of the new Replicator 2

+1 for portlandia reference. Also just an attractive model, well done!
