Love your idea, but I can't get the Customizer to work with your design. "We're sorry, but something went wrong." is all I get.

Hey thanks for the hint. I added my name in a comment and the Customizer doesn't like umlauts like "ü". It's a hard live with a german name in an english world.
Nonetheless, it's fixed now!

I was talking to my wife about designing something for our busted dishwasher utensil basket, but decided to search first. This looks absolutely perfect, getting ready to print one in PETG. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to being able to use all the sections again!

I'm glad you appreciate it. Maybe you can finally convince your wife, why you need this bulky thing at home :D

Hello. I can see it is hugely popular, but I can't help but ask: Why use these things? We always remove them as the first thing we do :)

We might be fundamentally different, because I don't get your question either. How do you put your silverware into the dishwasher?
There are dishwashers with a separate compartment and dishwashers where you throw your cutlery in a basket like the one in the picture. After several years of throwing forks and knifes at it, the plastic basket gets damaged and the cutlery falls through.
That is, where my inlays come in. With those you can "repair" your basket. Did that help you?

which material should i use so it survives in my dishwasher?

ABS, PET and Nylon are dimensionally stable up to a temperature of ~120°C (250°F), so this works best. Mine are printed in ABS.
PLA is only stable up to 60°C (140°F). According to jmicgavin in https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:552518/#comments it works, but might not be as durable.

Dishwasher // Chopstick Saver

I've made about a half dozen of these various sizes both in PLA and later ABS for my kids dishwasher trays. The PLA ones warped as expected, and the ABS ones survived intact so far on one dishwasher but warped badly quickly on the other.

I tried this in PLA (red) and it was a complete failure. Our dishwasher has no temperature settings, but I'm sure it's more than 60°C. The baskets worked in the sense that they prevented the forks from falling through, but the red PLA turned orange and of the 5 baskets used, I had one with the bottom up, it had collapsed entirely under the weight of the cutlery, the others were merely somewhat deformed.

I'm going to try PETG next, as it should be more stable at higher temperatures...

thank you very much for letting me know, i'll try to make some of them soon :)
