This simple water wheel is the first version of a project my daughter is working on for her school maker club.
Space for up to 12 scoops. (4, 6, or 12)
Everything snaps together very tightly.
Center hole for 1/4" bearing
Made with Blender! More to come
Print one hub (0.2mm - 0.3mm layer height, 15% infill)
Print 4, 6, or 12 Spoons (0.4mm layer height, 15% infill)
- Snap together.
Spoons print quickly in PLA at 0.4mm height with no major issues. I tried the scoops at 0.2 and 0.3 layer heights first, but found no noticeable difference to the 0.4 other than it taking half the time to print.
- Make it lighter
Add open holes to hub
Convert hub to spokes
Thin the spoon walls
Angle the spoon bottom to use less plastic but keep same volume
- Add teeth to hub allowing Spoon to be custom positioned
