Nice job printed mine and it came out quite well =D

I LOVE THE CONTACT BEAM, are you planning to create a 1:1 or smaller version??

The lines on the sides dont line up. https://i.imgur.com/kaBXbFS.png

Could you possibly fix this?

Nice catch; however, as the description states, this is extracted from the DS2 game files and has been minimally edited to stay true to the game content. AFAIK the issue you mentioned also exists in the game files and "fixing" it would conflict with my motivation for "creating" and posting this content.

I didn't see that in the description. But wow I can't believe that in DS2 they let something like that slip o.o

No need to "fix" it if that's how it is coming out of DS2

I'm printing it right now with a FABtotum (after converting it through the Cura slicer), and it's coming out great!
Thanks!

Glad you like it. Altman be praised :P

It reads as an open mesh, is it still printable, or do I have to alter it and make it a solid?

It should print fine as-is; most slicers won't care.

hey ,
I was wondering how you got the model/mesh file for the contact beam, and if there was a way in order to get the model/mesh for a bench made gun i had made within dead space 3?

Sorry I took so long to reply. The contact beam was extracted using the same procedure as the marker. IIRC the procedure didn't work perfectly for the contact beam (missing tris) and I never got around to fixing it up. It's also a very complex model to 3D print. If you're still interested I can try to send you the model as-is. Regarding DS3, I believe the content files are packed in a different way than DS2, and even if I had the set of unpacked models, the bench-made guns are likely modular and would require manual alignment of the components to actually assemble the whole gun.

Tried printing it with a 10 line brim (Cura w/ Printrbot Simple Metal) at ~5" tall, it managed to break free of the brim at about ~1" from the top. Other than that failure it actually looks quite nice even with a .2 layer thickness.

I just NEED one of those.

Hey there, Just thought i'd let you know that someone has been trying to sell these on an Etsy store.

Do the black markers have the same model as the red ones. If not then could you put up a model of it. If you don't want to do that then what program(s) did you use to get the model out of the game?

I only found models for black markers in the data files. I wrote a simple C++ program based on the maxscript code posted on this forum page to parse faces and vertices out of .geo files: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=5966&start=15http://forum.xentax.com/viewto.... From there, it was straightforward to write out binary STL files (as per the spec described here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STL_(file_format)#Binary_STL)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S...
