What is the difference between using the v shaped wheels and the solid wheels?

Hello Tyrdle. While both are a great choice, the Solid Wheels provide additional stability and rigidity.

OpenBuilds Parts are now available in many easy to use and share formats! Including STEP / IGES / SolidWorks / SketchUp
Please see the OpenBuilds Parts Resource section here to grab'em. http://www.openbuilds.com/resources/categories/openbuilds-parts.5/
Hope this helps and all the best with your Builds!

Why do I have to create an account on openbuilds.com to download the files? That doesn't help at all. :(

Is there any way we could get the models in STEP format? Getting SketchUp to export to a format that is usable in other applications is a flippin' pain. I want to use V-slot in some of my designs but I refuse to fool with the nightmare that is SketchUp.

We have bent a rail in a 90 using a conduit bender. It works, but the bend curved over as well so it would have to be done with a better means of keeping straight as it was bent. I think a 3 wheel gantry cartage would work great for this as well, having the single wheel side on the inside of the curve.

Has anyone used these to do curved motion? If a rail had a gradual bend would the carriage still be able to travel along it?

Your more then welcome Justin. Also for the latest versions of all the models please check the parts resources of OpenBuilds.com

thanks for posting the models here.

Awesome. Looking forward to seeing it. Thanks

Stoked! Decided to build my next bot with V-Slot. Thanks for the awesome product and I will definitely be posting a "Made One" soon enough.

Nice looking forward to the build gopedunderground! Please share on http://OpenBuilds.comOpenBuilds.com too when your ready :)

Thanks Robaktime

You rock! Thanks for the response and good work :)

Hello JNR & kinnishian. We have a couple of volunteers working on additional file formats. We will post them when they are available. We are uploading the drawings to the website in the meantime. We apologize. We thought they were already there. Hopefully, this will help!
Thank you,
OpenBuilds Team

I second this (JNR's comment). Would appreciate more universal file formats. Are there any options like STEP or something I can convert to Autodesk Autocad files?

many thanks.

Hi, very great idea, and I very appreciate the open-source way decision. However sketchup isn't the ideal thing tho share the components' measures. I use CatiaV5 and SolidWorks, i Tried to export from sketchup to dxf and then import in either Catia or SW to re-design at least the 20x20 V-Slot framing, but inaccuracies appears. Can you post blueprints with dimesion please?

Yes, the OpenBuilds Dual V Wheels are compatible with both V-Slot and OpenRail. Thanks!

Does this use the same V wheels as the openrail system?

I can't wait for this. It'll be much better for the scanning rig :D

Thank you flurin for the tip
SketchUp version 8. No reason really just what I have loaded :)
Thanks again look forward to seeing your next machine design

I'm looking forward to design my next machine using V-Slot.
