I also found out during my print that the arm and torch where not going to be printed. Does this print need support material?

It's up to you, you can either cut the hand of, print it separately and glue it. Or use support material. I've used support.

How do you cut the arm and print separately. I have makerbot 2

.thing files can be renamed to .zip, and then opened in any archiving program like WinZip. Inside will be the .stl file(s) for the objects. These can then be opened in whatever CAD program you prefer.

looks great, going to make mine shortly, anyone know who designed it?

At regular quality level mine printed with great quality on the building but did NOT print the extended arm and torch.
