You did a great job.
Well i printed your creation cause i will be using this on my P47 when i built my plane.

Thankyou! looks like it came out great! I'd love to see when you get the rest of her built!

I wanted to know the scale of the airplane p47

Oh, I'll have to find out from my dad.

what model / brand has been studied?

I think it was a Rolls Royce engine. I really have no idea, I made it 3 years ago, and based it on a radial engine that that would have been in that model of mustang.

this is impossible to open in usable format.....would be plain simpler if it was in an STL file to begin with......

The .thing files are just a compressed folder. Use any decompression software (I use 7-Zip) to decompress and the resulting folder will contain the STL file.

I all ready tried Makerbot desktop. It converts it to a file the makerbot desk top can slice, but I can find no way to export it as an stl.
I don't use a makerbot printer, and my printer won't accept the g code for makerbot. Do you know of some way to get ant stl out of this file?

load the thing file in makerbot desktop, File>SaveAs>Saveastype:> *.stl

Have tried, cant find any way to convert to stl file.

What software do we need to convert this to a STL file?

Makerbot Desktop. It should be free.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
