pretty sure this is luke's lightsaber, not obi-wan's. here is obi-wan's lightsaber: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/File:Obi-Wan_Kenobis_first_lightsaber_-_SW_Card_Trader.png

Here is what the original was made from. Prop guys kick ass! Imagine what they could have done with what we have today. http://www.partsofsw.com/bensab.htm

Never said this was the first one. Should be from Episode IV. Think old school.. That fancy thing wasn't around back then..

I have printed some parts for it, but only the ones that need to be black (waiting for white filament for the rest) I tried printing the fin shaft multiple times but it kept coming off the build plate, any ideas?

This is awesome. Is there a guide to assembly / part coloring anywhere?

Just added another pic. Hope this helps.

That is actually perfect i think. Thanks!

I made an alternate part to replace the bubble screen, feel free to add it to the project if you like https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2782534

My Grip keeps printing out to the exact same spot near the top and then fails and stops printing. any advice?

Thanks so much for this model. I'm making one as a surprise housewarming gift for a friend :) I will post pics :)

I printed this on my anet a8 and after I was done it looked a little too big. I would recommend scaling the files down a little if you don't want the hilt to feel too big in your hand. The files were set up great though, all the pieces snapped together really well

What slicer did you use to slice it?

i used cura and it came out great not done painting yet but will post pics once done.

I have a Zortrax printer so I have to use Z-Suite. Are you having problems slicing it?

No, I have not begun the printing process yet. But I was curious as to why the other commenters were having issues slicing "all the vertices". Is that still an issue or was it an one time occurrence? Do you know why it occurred? Thanks for your time!

I think they were referring to the file size. I saved it in high res. Very high poly count for a quality looking print. Looking at all the makes it appears to be fine. I just printed another one last week.

Okay! Great, Thank you! I'll be planning to print one this week.

It should print great. Let me know if you have any problems.

Great, thank you! looking forward to printing!

Awesome man. Thanks so much!

Trying to print this out and most of the parts are fine but the Main Body part has over 2 million vertices just FYI. Each of the 6 long indents has 359K vertices give or take a few. I tried to print it and I think it threw my slicer into a hissy fit. It started to print but it was ugly. I'm trying to reduce the count now in Max but I'm not sure if it'll pass the STL check afterwards. We'll see. :)

Sorry about that.. I saved it in high res to get the best detail. Strange that your slicer would have problems with that.. I just ran it through mine and it took less than 45 seconds to slice it.. Z-Suite

I started printing around 7am and have two more pieces (pommel and cap) left and it was just past 11pm when the heat sink finished. I have the Dremel Idea Builder and the files ported over with zero errors! I'm so excited with this, thank you BbrnKyle!

Hi could anyone tell me the printing specs that worked for them like infill etc thanks

I would use medium infill. The grip and pommel cap I used .140 Everything else is printed at .190. Please see summary for parts that used support.

Thanks going to give it a go great model

Thanks!! Can't wait to see it!!

Looks amazing, printing right now.

This is the lightsaber I'm looking for! :D
Brilliant design Sir, with all the little details! I just have to print this! Would you mind, if I used it in a youtube video?

Thanks!! I wouldn't mind at all.. Just put a link to the model..

Everything's perfect except that the bubble display spreads out the holder so much that it then won't fit into the main body. What am I doing wrong? Do I just need to sand the hell out if the sides of the bubble display? Other than that, GREAT model!

I would just sand it until it fits. Mine was a little tight, but I got it to fit..

I can't believe how well this is printing on my Dreamer, and with no supports. Epic work :)

Thanks!! I try to keep support material to a minimum. Waste of material and time.. Please post pics when you complete it!!

i plan on making one, just have to decide on color variation. some black silver and gold/red highlights will be nice

Looks fantastic. Thanks for your hard work!

Had a good time drawing this up.. I better see one in the "Makes" section from you Jamie.. It prints very well on the Zortrax!! If you have any problems, let me know..
