if you're getting too much burn either lower the pulse of the laser or up the travel speed.
I also found that with wood, a few sprays of windex and a blue srubbie pad will remove the redeposited resins. Do it sorta fast and rinse. Let them air dry and they're none the worse for wear.

I dig it. I've done all mine out of 1/8th inch acrylic. If you need, I've got a pdf of gears from 3-100 teeth up here. ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:574http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... )

What did you generate yours in, if I may ask?

Ah, i make dioramas, so it's useful to have many many tiny parts around. :) Glad you found them useful too.

I made this sheet of gears in .3 cm clear acrylic, and they are surprisingly strong!
Nice job on them.
Though I am not sure why one might need so many of the small ones... I'm using them for planetary gears.

what type/thickness of wood do you use, im allways tempted to pick some of the stuff they have at the local hobby store (dj hobby) but i never know what to pick up, its easier/cheaper for me to just run down to taps and get the scrap acrylic so i never really got around to getting woot. :-P

That should keep you in gears for a while :-)
