Hi. I'm wondering how you made this STL? I'm wanting to replicate this but using smaller areas. Thanks.

Hi,
I wrote some Python to convert the raw NASA SRTM data into STL (3D triangles). The SRTM data is formatted as Latitude, Longitude, Altitude so you need to convert to OSGB coordinates (N, E, Altitude) first to get rid of the curvature. The Lat / Lon resolution for the UK is 3 arcseconds which corresponds to roughly 90m on the ground. So if you want to print small areas you need to be careful that you don't zoom in too far or the data will quickly start to look pixelated.
Code is now available on GitHub: https://github.com/PaulZC/SRTM_to_STL
Enjoy! (Usual conditions apply! WYSIWYG...)
Cheers,
Paul
