Two things come to mind

  1. Receipt Printer

2.printing out seismograph data (or any data stream over a long period of time.)

Haha seismographs are possible, but it would have to be constantly updating, converting to gcode, then to the makerbot...which may prove to be to complicated lol I think we could manage receipts :-D

Thats basically what came to mind but them my mom started cleaning out the house and found my old 8th grade project telephone paper thing and took the roll form that =D!

You could program you MakerBot to write all of "On The Road"!

you just roll the paper around the rear axle. no files needed.

also, he doesn't have a unicorn plotter

Actually there will be printed parts ( a later revision) and I will be posting pictutures later today.

this is an awesome idea. could you do some kind of 3d printing like this? one line at a time? someone in google groups wanted to make some kind of music player and this could be applied to make a "scroll" of music (like the old scroll/ music box kind of things that get plucked by high points of a scroll)

are you able to control the DC motor fairly accurately? might be a good idea to replace it with a 360º servo so it could go back and forth accurately.

Hey thanks! i could print out a bigger and smaller gear to interchange the standard gears already with the ABP but the motor is fairly accurate, but kysan sells small stepper motors that could fit in side the ABP to allow for even greater accuracy.
