Slicer 0.9.8 complains about wankel_housing_ported_x.stl Resulted in printing just the outer wall of the housing on the bottom, never let it get past the 2nd layer to see what else it would do. Netfabb fixed it right up.

I had the same problem. What is Netfabb and how to I fix it??

Netfabb Studio is a utility that, amongst other things, can repair STL files so they can be properly printed.

Or use their 'Cloud service' where you can upload your STL and get the repaired file in your e-mail

The wankelecc.stl file is not scaled correctly. Also the wankelcrank.stl file is not scaled correctly either.

They were at 75%. Fixed now. Sorry!

Excellent! Now I can finish printing it.

could this maybe run on compressed air?

It'd be fun to just seal off the open side of the housing with an acrylic sheet, pump some air in and see what happens, but I think it'd actually take a number of changes to the housing. The tips of the rotor don't actually touch the sides of the housing all the way around (up to a full millimeter gap), you'd probably want to close the spark plug holes, maybe even move the ports so there's less overlap.
