Cool. Where can I find info about grabbing models from games etc. I love printing and painting these characters, but I am not very good at sculpting. I am really interested in learning how to get these characters into Blender so they can be made ready for 3D printing. Any info or links you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thx

I have just reread this comment and I think I misunderstood the first time, sorry! I have pretty much no knowledge on actually ripping models from games-I just pose the ones that the amazing people of the Steam Workshop have made free to download.

You could find stuff from sourcefab, but sometimes there isn't great selection.

I use SFM with models from the steam workshop. These tutorials are great:

They don't talk about using workshop models but its pretty similar, just do the above but when you get to the importing to blender part, you need to make it compatible with source files using this: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Blender_Source_Tools

Also when you import the model file instead of doing what they say in the video to get the medic model in blender, use crowbar to decompile the original .mdl file you posed into an .smd and apply the .dmx to that. If you have multiple files they won't automatically line up, you'll have to reposition them to match what you posed originally.
