My original reason for designing and making this hook/holder is for use in my glass shower to hang a loofah or rag on but I also ended up using it all around the house. My glass shower walls are 0.230" / 5.8mm thick. You will need to print 2 hooks and purchase a set of 1" N52 grade magnets if you want to use it in a shower. The round shaft portion of the hook is approximately 8mm.
I purchased the magnets from K&J Magnetics (I would post a link but do not know if that is allowed). I buy them in pairs but they can be bought singles and varying strengths.
Magnet part numbers:
RC22CS-P-N52 - 3/4" o.d. x 1/8" thick with countersunk hole for #8 screw
RX033CS-P-N52 - 1" o.d. x 3/16" thick countersunk hole accepts #10 screw
Flathead Screws (18-8 SS):
8/32 x 1/2"
10/32 x 1/2"
The screw threading holes are larger than drill spec size for screws. They are 0.177" / 4.5mm dia. hole for the 1" model and 0.126" / 3.2mm dia. hole for the 3/4" model. I use the screw to thread the holes, not a tap. I have had no issues with the screws coming loose or stripping during installation/threading.
If you need the screw holes resized or have any questions you can shoot me a message.
*8/16/19- added screw and magnet details I forgot.
Prusa & MatterHackers PLA PETG
I have printed this in the MatterHackers black PETG build series and the Prusa silver PLA. Enforce supports at the magnet location.
Use the screws to thread the holes before inserting the magnets.
The magnets may be require a little force to press in depending on print dimensional accuracy.
