Just the Earth I was looking for, Needed something to add to a display of an Explorer 1 model from NASA. Added a base and holder for the model. Photo of Explorer model has been modified from the original NASA model files. Extra unlabeled base provided if you want to use this for a different model.
Supports only needed on the Earth Halves, I tried without, it was a little messy but that disappears when gluing the halves together. Sometimes bridging works sometimes it doesn't...
The base has a hidden cavity intended for adding weight if necessary for a paperweight. The hols on the side for the curved support is open to the inside chamber which is 3/8" High and 2 1/4" Diameter. I filled mine with (US Size) #9 trap shot. Just pour it in slowly from a tiny paper cup. When filled, glue in the Curved Model support piece.
The original NASA model can be found here: https://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/explorer-1
Note, This model is rather small as designed and is lacking in details. I printed it in Cura with a scale factor of 200% Still working on revisions to the NASA model. The nozzle needs a 0.26" diameter hole 3/8" deep to fit the curved support in this file set. If you want to print the NASA Model as is, you still need to make a hole for the support but only about 3/16" deep, no room for more. You can edit that on Tinkercad. I am not including the files for that because I do not know if it is legal to share up copies of those NASA files. I intend to find out...
Designed with Tinkercad
Added cavity under each half of globe for better fit. Original model had too much gap at equator due to slight swelling of the PLA on bottom layers and hole in bottom of globe to fit on the stand with provided pin.
