2020 is the 10th JoCo Cruise. My sister and I signed up before the 2019 cruise even sailed.
It seemed like a good year to commemorate with some novelty glasses.
These started as a remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1126538, but they essentially essentially had to be re-created from scratch.
The basic glasses can be worn by themselves around the New Year, or all year long for that matter, but the separate JoCo “Garnish” will snap on the main glasses for a cruise specific pair.
This design is considerably larger than the original, primarily because it needed to fit over my fat head, with glasses on. But even if you have a smaller head and no glasses, the temples are easily adjustable to hold securely. If printed in PLA, the ear pieces can be dipped in moderately hot water and will become very pliable in only a few seconds. They can then be molded around the wearer’s head easily and held until cool again. After that, the shape will be retained unless exposed to heat again.
Minimal supports are advised for the main frame of the glasses. A low density with Roof supports (Cura calls it “Roof”, your slicer may vary), will snap off easily and leave behind a smooth enough pocket to perfectly accept the temples.
2020 - I can see clearly now!
