Any idea what the backlash is on this ?

for more strong project (DC Motor with air turbine) you recommend print in ABS or PLA?

Sorry for the late reply. ABS is stronger, however, PLA is better for the parts that have to endure friction.

Ops... I print with 100% of infill on ABS haha

I'm assuming you print out two of these and connect a single stepper to one end of the horizontal rod.

Do the mounting holes on the box have the same spacing as those on a NEMA 17?

What is the tolerance on the gears? Is there any play when assembled?

If the gears don't allow for any play (which is pretty crucial when dealing with the z-axis), you might have just saved me from having to use two steppers, thanks!

What I wanted to do is to put on of the steppers that have two shafts in between of two of this.
Yes, the mounting holes are tha same as nema17.
To be honest, I printed it to make sure the bearings and gears fit, but never completely mounted it. You should ask the guy that made one: http://www.thingiverse.com/make:121799

Great job, but I have problems changing the size of the bearing bed. @ Forresthiggs :Any chance you could send me your redesigned model adapted for 608 bearings (I only have these in my workshop)?

Nice piece of work. I redesigned it to use 608 bearings which are much cheaper and easier to acquire since every skateboard ever made uses them. I also standardized on #8-32 bolts which are a close match for M4s. Your design really saved me a lot of time starting from scratch. BTW, what did you use to design the bevel gears?
