Also: Do you have some more info or links to the switches and other components you used? Without any measurements/dimensions its quite hard to find the proper parts.

I really like this "no 230V version" and the fact that the helix is now correct :D However I have no idea how to make my own PCBs from the files so I guess I will use a normal Arduino on some prototyping board.

Yes, you can do that either. Take care because the UV-Leds pull some current. So you should use some mosfets or bipolar transistors to drive the LEDs (this is good described somewhere in the arduino playground "How to switch loads" ). The shift register is not really neccessary if you want to switch the bottom LEDs all together.
