Not wanting to buy a vernier for a simple measurement job? Look no further! This single STL file allows for you to convert your 26mm steel ruler into the precise measuring tool you've always dreamed of. These jaws are especially useful when wanting to measurement round objects.
Note: Due to the jaws' design, the first few millimeters of the ruler will be used to secure the jaws in place, thus measurements will need to include this offset.
The single STL file can be mirrored the slicer software to achieve a more symmetric look, otherwise two copies of this vernier jaw will work just as well. I printer 2 layers for all settings (top, bottom and perimeter). I would suggest printing the jaw faces flat on the bed as this will provide you with the smoothest surface on the two mating faces (see the slicer image I attached it you aren't sure what I mean). Infill is not really an issue and 2 layers on each side should provide the necessary rigidity.
Fits and tolerances
The jaws should fit quite firmly onto the jaws and in some cases, may need a bit of gentle heating to fit your ruler. This being said, beware of dents or bulges on the corners of your ruler, these can be misleading in terms of the overall fit of the jaws on your ruler.
