Hello! I absolutely love this project, and I was wondering if you could add parts from the NX-01. I think it's a really underrated ship, and needs more models. And this seems like the perfect way to make them! Respond when you can please.

Best regards, -Galifreyscall

Thanks! My current project focuses on adding part support for TOS/TMP FASA trek federation ships. I'll add the NX-prise and variants to my list of potential projects once that's complete.

Hello, I hate to bother you, but I was wondering if you wouldnt mind giving this particular starship a go? I cant find one like it out there yet and I suck at 3D modelling and would love to see this Saladin refit made into a model, if thats cool? Thanks.

James

Hi James,

I created a quick single nacelle Saladan/Hermes pattern using the existing parts. You can download it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/download:6612986

I'll look into creating a saucer variant with the integrated deflector, and let you know when it gets added.

Thanks I appreciate it.

James

Started drinking beer and decided to just go ahead and implement this saucer variant. Uploaded new Saladin file with integrated saucer deflector: https://www.thingiverse.com/download:6613240

Hey thanks again for putting that together, and I thought I would send you a model Ive been working on for a while, its incomplete but it looks pretty bad ass, a FASA Wilkerson class with a make shift main deflector dish on the saucer underside. I dont know if its something you'd be interested in checking out but I thought I'd let you see it.

I thought you said you suck at 3d modelling? This looks like a pretty damn good kitbash to me. I ran it through a netfabb auto-fix and it's good to go. I'd say add a few greeblies to hide the neck parts (or feel free to swap out the saucer with my version if you don't mind the lack of details) and post it to Thingiverse. Also consider outputting the custom nacelles and torpedo module as separate parts so we can all use them!

Yeah I am not great at it though, the saucer main deflector part is something that I definitely was having trouble with, hence the reason I asked you. I am going to put together a zip file with a lot of parts in it from that Wilkerson and a few others and I figured I would send one to you so you could use them too. I will see about that tomorrow.

James

well I dont really feel like setting up a public account to offer downloads to be honest, but with the stuff in this file go ahead and offer it up on your page, I dont mind. Put it out there on my behalf, doesnt matter to me really.

James

Whoah! It's a 3d version of the old toolkits and a kitbashers dream for TOS/TMP. Nice job and thanks!

I tried to juggle unit conversions for a while too, but ultimately it's easier to just leave blender at default and model things in millimetres. I mean; that's what printers expect anyway.
V2.8 and above does display units in a slightly more intuitive manner, which may or may not be useful in your context but frankly I'm not ready to devote the time to learning the new ways yet.

This is sound advice. I didn’t really think about the scaling issues until I’d basically finished the Blender design work and started generating STL files. I think the first update will be to rescale all source files consistent with the STLs.
