there's a lot of resistance because the filament has to bend under the front roller to get to the filament sensor. have you printed using it yet? does it work? just pulling on it feels difficult.

edit: i just realized it could pull it through under the first roller. seems to be working alright. posted my make, thanks for the design.

Thanks! This idea is simple and neat; better than printing a complicated off-board spool holder. The tube printed rougher than I'd have liked. My only issue is that the filament sensor more awkward to use. I guess I need to move it. I wonder if PVC pipe has the same inner dimensions...

We arent that lucky. Thought of that at first, but the ID isnt correct. They should print nice and cleanly. You may want to try a raft or brim since having a small contact area and being tall, may wobble if your dont have really good bed adhesion. I use a wham bam flex plate so had no issue.
