I just want to know one thing, what is the make and model of the microscope you're using in this project?

This is the microscope I use, It's a really good chinese one, works perfect for this propose. The only thing I miss in it you cannot set the zooming factor just the focus. But for this machine is perfect like that.

Very nice design, I might try to build this myself, but I will make it semi automatic, If I do this I will send you the source and whatever files needed. But I'm a very busy person and don't know if I will have any time to do just that. Maybe someone else could. But I really like your idea and design and thank you for sharing it with everyone.

I've seen many semi automatic types, I have never used one nevertheless for some ideas the design effort is pretty high and I'm wondering if is really wort's the effort. I wanted to keep this design as simple as possible, easy and fast to build for low number prototype builds. However I'm always open for any good ideas suggestions :) which might help improve this machine. What features you was thinking on semi-automate?

Thank you very much. It is still not finished yet, I have already used it for a few builds and found some minor improvement possibilities.
I have not shared it for money, its a way to pay back others sharing their great designs out of which everybody can prosper.

Is there any way you could say which parts are safe to start printing and ordering?

I think first you have to decide which dimension of the aluminium frame you want to build. As example mine has a a width of 30cm. The number of reel can be fitted is limited, if you need more components maybe 40cm width would be a better choice. I plan to do some updates on the following parts, so this you shall not order or print:

  • a different way to hold the PCB - using two 20x80 extrusions and different mounting parts, with the two rods I'm not fully satisfied, it works but is not so easy to adjust the distances.
  • 24mm tape feeder is a little too wide by 1-2mm;
  • the reel holder guide rod is in the wrong position, when I lift the reel holder it hits the feeders, really annoying when loading the tapes into the feeders.
  • depending on what power supply you have you might need a different size of the electronics box.
    I think first step would be the ordering of components for me took about 2 months to get all the components from china.

Hi, The feeders are now improved, this version holds the SMD tape much better

Thank you very much, Up to now is working pretty well. Tested it last week, still missed to make a video.
Just a suggestion do not print the feeders, I want to modify them a little. The issue I found with them that sometimes when I bumped the picker head into the component strip, components started to jump around. So I want to do a little change add some edge to keep the SMD strip stiffer.

The reel holder design is still missing, and I have not found a good pedal design. The one I suggest in the description I do not really like it but it was a fast solution.

Thank you! I'll post a video when I have the JUKI nozzles installed. waiting to be delivered from china. So far I have tested it with the nozzles from the vacuum pump.
