Hello, I'm having an issue with the hub and the base. I printed both, inserted bearings in the base, then put the hub in.

I now cannot take the hub back out because your design retains the bearings once the hub is inserted, and it cannot be removed.

Is there a way to remove it without damaging it?

the hub is kepped in quite firmly. To get the hub out again, place a utility knife between the edge of the bearing and the hub. than turn the hub against the blade knife. The blade will separate the hub from the bearing so you can lift the edge of the hub over the first bearing. Keep on turning another one third turn and the hub will be free.

Hello, the carrier is too large to be printed on an Ender 3, will there be a carrier version designed for smaller print beds?

Try the carrier from this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3542220
It is a bit smaler but also fits 800g coils.

Currently there are problems with bowden extruders. Propper untangling of the loops benefits strongly by the random movements witch are induced by the moving extruder of direct driven printers. I am working on that problem...

Hi Ben

This is really a great idea! I am checking out your desing.
One comment: The support for the base is kind of hard to remove. I accidently snapped something off trying to remove it. Could you release a version without support so I can have my slicer create support?

Thanks Roland!
the support is realized as separate shells. These can be removed in the slicer.

It would not harm the function if the tips of the pins break away.

Upcoming versions will utilize refined geometry for the support witch is a little easier to remove. This Update is already included in the models supplied in the group FilamentCarousel.

Excellent! I was struggling getting fiberlogy refills fit the masterspools they recommended! This changes the whole idea, absolutely fantastic! Danke schön!

Very cool idea! However, as I have upgraded my MK2.5S printers to be "Full Bear," I don't have the Z-Frame anymore. Nevertheless, if time allows, I will make an adapter that can be mounted on top of an Aluminum extrusion.

If you check out my profile, you will see, that I made a top-loading spool holder for the original Prusa before which was quite popular. The issue is, like s_kuellmer said, the extra space those top mounted spool holders require. That's why I prefer the side-mounted holders more. Maybe there is a good design idea that combines both, the spool-lessness and the side loading holder system?

I established the group Filament Carousel here on thingiverse to address those issues. One Forum is Development Corner there I just published the dimensions of the mounting bracket my design is based on.

I would appreciate if anyon came up with a solution. There are so many more variants needed.

The princip of this thing is cool, but limits your max height to be printed!

The printhead could crash into the holder. This is not really cool.

A design witch addresses this problem is already in consideration. Be patient, It will see the light within the next weeks ...
