From what I can see it doesn't appear to be fusing on the sides and the support structure did warp a bit but other than the discoloration everything else looks ok(except a bit of stringing on the outside where the angle is the highest but some sanding should take care of that) so I will let the print finish and see what happens I guess. Thanks for the quick response and the design.

Currently doing a print of this and there seems to be a triangular discoloration on each of the sides is this intentional/normal or is there something wrong with my print?

Thanks for your message... sad to have to say it but I've printed lots of these (10+) and never seen anything like that. My suspicion is that it is fusing between the inner and outer spheres in that area so is darker because it's thicker. That eould be caused by how your slicing app deals with the surfaces within an outer surface or machine accuracy. Not all slicing apps or machines deal with curved things like this as well as others.

I also noted the shaping of the base designed in support is not perfectly round. In the photo it looks slightly distorted or not well formed. This could be due to the same issue...

Filament also makes a difference but as this is an isolated area I suspect slicing more than anything else. If it is fused and cannot be separated post printing the solution is to uniformly scale it up 5 -10% to increase clearances and how the slicer sees the file plus rotate it say 45 degrees on the slicers virtual biild plate before slicing. Both these things will change the way the file is prepared to print and hopefully ensure a good result.

I hope this helps

This is great. Printed perfect first try. Moving parts broke loose easily and it works great. I'm having trouble finding the right rubber band. I might just Velcro it to my desk.

Why to add rubber band?? Can I use it without rubber band?

Printing one now in Silk Gold PLA... ;)

Cura refused to slice the file several times. Finally it worked after I moved the Spheres on the bedding. Strange, but now it's working. Looking forward for the result.

I'm using Cura 4.0 and it worked perfectly for me

Yeah, my slicer insists there's an error with the model but the auto repair appears to have worked.

I always check my .stl's before uploading and checked this again and no errors / issues. I do however get comments from Cura and Slic3r app users with issues like this and it is almost always with files that are multi part in a single print (i.e. designed in supports etc.). Some slicing apps deal with things like this better than others.
