Thanks so much for the MGN12H version!

Question: How do you attach the fans? I haven't got my rail in the mail yet, but I printed this out, and it looks like the bottom/left screw for the fan goes right where the block should sit? Am I looking at it wrong?

Hi thanks for the download, The bottom left screw just screws into the plastic i use another M3x6mm with an M3 washer. The top fan cover hole i use a Longer M3 with a Nyloc nut and it keeps it clamped tight.

will you be updating this plate for the mgn12h? mgn9 is nice.. but doesn't allow much room for centering the rail over the vslot. also, will you be adding the jigs to center said rail? alternatively, would you be willing to upload the step file for editing in fusion? ... i love the design.. but.. it needs respaced for mgn12h.. and.. i'd like to thicken the walls just a tiny bit so i can cut and insert m3 nuts into it for positive grip. i don't like threading into plastic.

I modded your file to place the mounting away from the fan shroud. Also, set the distance of the screw holes to fit the distance of the mgn12h block instead of the mgn9 .....Thanx, a bunch for uploading something I can work off!!!! Bellow is a tester I printed in nylon, don't mind the burn marks.

would this fit a mgn12c

It won't, you have to flatten it in cad and rework the holes.

Great design!!!
Just a question, do you have the MGN12H ready?
Like other colleague has commented I have ordered MGN12H and I would be very grateful if you could please upload a version for this

Thank you in advance

I've tried using an MGN9 rail on a v-slot profile using t-nuts to secure it. The issue I ran into was the v-slot is only 0.45mm narrower than the 9mm rail, so it was very hard getting it lined up, and even then there was only 0.23mm supporting each side of the rail.

I love the simple design that you have for this modification, I have a couple questions however. Will your design still let me use endstops? will I be able to use a petsfang mod with this installed? And can I use a drag chain with this? Thanks for sharing your amazing design! I look forward to having less problems with my axis using this and your y axis mod.

Mind sharing the stp files?

Awesome work! Your linear rail design probably has the simplest part list and instructions!

  • For the X axis linear rail, will this works with a MGN12H Linear Rail instead of the MGN9H? (I have ordered the MGN12H)

  • For the Y axis linear rail, is it compatible with the Ender 3 Pro? (which has the wider extrusions) Looking to use your design for that too!

Hi i can make up a new carriage for the MGN12H, I used the MGN9 because i wanted to keep the carriage quite compact and it allowed me to align the carriage and hotend without any major offsets.

I can have a look and make up a carriage plate for the MGN12H.

For the Y axis i'm not sure, I know the Pro uses a 4040 extrusion but i don't have a carriage plate or any of it's dimensions to see what would need modified.

It is just the distance for the 4 holes that changes with the mgn12h. I already adjusted your file for it. Let me know if you like me to send it your way to review.

That will be great if you could make the X-axis carriage plate compatible with the MGN12H. Will this cause any major offsets?

I have just checked that the carriage plate on the Pro also has the same mounting holes for the normal E3. Would it be possible to shift the new drill holes further apart by 20mm (10mm on each side) on the guide plate? I think we can still use the normal E3 holes for the referencing of the new drill holes. I can print the guide plate and test on the Pro.

Thanks for your hardwork!

Is it stable enough being held only with bolts and t-nuts?

Yep perfectly fine had no issues on 2 machines setup like this. Just give them a tightness check every so often like you would anything else.

Great, are you going to upload the jig you mentioned below?

Bit late uploaded the jigs etc.. to https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3533580

How do you stabilize the liner rail in the V slot aluminum extrusion?

I actually have small jigs i printed for aligning MGN9 and MGN12 rails on 2020 extrusions while i tighten the bolts, I should probably upload them as well :-)

Will put them up at some point tomorrow.
