Hello, printed you mod and now it's running on my printer, great design.
May I ask you two things?

  1. When installing the cooling duct whats is the optimal position? I mean how should I dial the vertical position in relation to the nozzle?
  2. Are you willing to share the file for the Extruder Bracket if possible? I would like to use the bantam feeder that I was using previously, but it is slightly higher than the stock one so I want to modify the bracket to be compatible.

If the nozzle is just touching the build plate, then the duct should be 1.5-2mm above the build plate.

Hi James, just wondering if the BMG extruder you have is reversed/mirrored from the one from Bondtech? I've just taken delivery of a cloned version which is the same orientation as the Bondtech original (https://www.bondtech.se/en/product/bmg-m-extruder/) but this does seem different from your illustration above... I might be being thick here (entirely possible) but hope you can help.

Both my bmgs have the opposite handedness as this print too. Any chance of designing a bracket for the mirrored version?

Printed your extruder and assembling it I realized cooling is designed with 40x10 in mind instead of 40x20... :D
any ideas how to adapt? (dont have a working 40x10)

P.S. Just from printing and assembling I have to say it's very nicely designed, so thank you for your great work.

By the way printed everthing with 0.5 nozzle at 0.38 layer height and it went rather well, some nuts I had to heat up to make them fit in but I can't really tell if it was because of my printer acting up or the coarse resolution that I did.

Same here. Had to go back to my 40x10 fan.

Can you tell us the ideal length of the Bowden tube ? From touching the inside of the coupler of the extruder down to the nozzle. Thanks !

That's going to differ slightly for user to user depending on the depth of the bore in the extruder fitting.

I'll use a quite strong PLA (stronger than PLA+ actually - link below if you're interested), would it be ok for the parts ? as you mentionned PETG. Is it for heat resistance or rigidity ?

What is the purpose of the extruder location plate?

The location plate fits into the 22mm hole in the stepper bracket and is sandwiched between the stepper and the extruder body. It gives a lug that the extruder locates on, locking it in position relative to the stepper motor.
