I first modeled and designed this flash modifier set for my Nikon SB800 Speedlight. The mount fits on the flash and the modifers attach magnetically to the mount for easy changing. The added benefit of using the magnets is that you can easily place gels or diffusion materials between the two pieces and the magnets will hold everything in place.
I then purchased some very cheap AmazonBasics speedlights (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01I09WHLW/) and made a custom mount for them as well. I can customize for your make of speedlight...see down below...
Included in this free kit:
- Nikon SB800 Speedlight modifer mount
- AmazonBasics Speedlight modifier mount
- Grid Modifer
- Honeycomb Modifier
- Triangular Modifier
- Wave Modifer
You will need 4 magnets for each item. Size: 8mm Diameter x 3mm Height. I use these https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01MZ6EJE2 as they are super strong.
I plan to add more modifiers in the future. If you need something specific or have suggesstions, message me.
Additional Modifiers coming soon...
I recommend a good size brim to keep the model nice and flat with good adhesion. Some of the modifiers may need additional adhesion such as magicGoo or Gluestick. Especially the "Wave" and "Honeycomb" modifers due to the thin wall thickness and complex pattern that starts on the bed.
Pay close attention to polarity of the magnets when gluing them into the mounts. Use CA glue. I recommend playing with the polarity orientation so that the mounts will always attach the correct way when they get close to each other.
Print in Place Versions Available
I have a "print in place" version of these where the magnets can be inserted during printing so that there is no need for gluing. However, you must have an iron-free nozzle assembly or the magnets will jump onto your nozzle as it passes by. These particular magnets I used are so strong that if any attractive material gets within 2-4 inches, they can jump to it.
You can contact me if you would like those versions of the models.
Customized Speedlight Mounts
If you have a different speedlight model and would like me to create a custom mount for it, send me a message. Cost to create STL file is $20.
Modifiers don't change -- only the mount does.
