This is a bowl I designed based on the Julia set of fractals. It is generated with custom code in python, imported into inkscape and converted to svg, imported into openscad then rendered into a vase shape.
The Julia equation I used is in the following form:
z -> z^7 + 1.2 + 0.5i
Iterations are limited by:
Real[z^2 + 1.2 + 0.5i]^8 < 1e10
The object I printed is actually a failed print in the last few mm due to a nozzle clog just after a filament swap.
Printed using vase mode, which is called "spiralize outer contour" in Cura. I printed at 250C with both PETG filaments. I also added filament changes between black and clear (Inland Black PETG and ESUN Clear PETG) using the filament change plugin in Cura. Note that your printer has to be compatible with M600 (filament change) to use this plugin (my Monoprice Maker Select has been modified to use Marlin firmware instead of stock Repetier).
I used layer changes at the following layers starting from clear (0.32mm layer height)
These layer changes are inspired by the Fibonacci sequence.
