Nice work, thanks for sharing! Will definitely install a pair on my Sigma. If I wire the switches to the extruder boards, will the firmware use them automatically, or do I have to configure / re-flash the firmware?

I've connected the sensors to Raspberry but if I remember correctly to use the Sigma's own feature you need to have firmware above 2.0 and then from printer screen select printer setup -> components setup and enable sensors from there

Hi there.

Elegant design. I'd like to connect directly to Sigma and let the new firmware handle the pause etc.
Do you have a wiring diagram or photo showing where to connect the 2x switches?

I forgot to take a picture, but the wiring is simple. The switch connects to extruder driver board which is directly below the extruder stepper motor. There are four connectors on the board, flat cable to main board, four wire connector to stepper and two wire connector for the runout switch. If you don't have suitable connector, just solder wires to the back side of the board to connector terminals. Note that you need to wire the switch so that it turns on when the filament is not present.
