This is a great hook I've been meaning to find one for the kids. I was originally going for the 3M command strip hooks but hah I was proven wrong by my grade 5's backpack that snapped it right off. This should fare better. Can this be scaled down provided I have smaller screws to match the new size? If so, how small do you think I can go with this?

How small do you want to go?
I like the idea of using deck screws so it can easily hold a large amount of weight.
I could make a smaller one say 2/3 size and post it if you think that would work for you? That way I can make a 2/3 size on and have the hole for the deck screw the same original size so it has a strong hold.

oh I was just going to scale it up and down on the slicer then use smaller screws. 2/3's the size might be interesting to see if it is not too much trouble. Also have you tried this with PLA or PETG?

I printed it in PLA.
Oh and I added the 2/3 version to the list of files for this thing. :)
Tell me how it goes

Looks great now I can print 2 on the same bed. Oh one thing I noticed not sure if you care but the logo on the 2/3 size is not centered.

OK I had to print it out... Its not a bad size at 2/3.
I have put it in my garage and I have 40 lbs hanging off the lower rung as a test and so far so good.
I only did a 10% infill to see if that was enough.

Man your printer is fast. I’m doing 2 on my bed still printing. 10% infil 4 walls

I only printed a single one out and used default Prusa control... which I think only has 2 walls.
I think more walls would improve its strength so 4 is better

Good catch.
On the bigger on I had it off centered but there was more room to work with. I think I like the centered look better on this one.
So I centered it and put it at the bottom. The new version has been uploaded

Keep up the good work! Love this design. Thanks for the quick modification. I will paint and seal my hooks and I'll post when I am done. Also i purchased some metal washers that fit in the hole to make this even stronger. Not sure if it's necessary but I did anyways.

If you want to increase the durability of a hook, the correct orientation is important as is the number of shells (outer walls) you add to the object. I made a tiny 2-inch hook that when printed with 6 shells can hold up to 40 lbs.

Nice! I will have to test that out in the future. I was trying to come up with a design that would hold well if you only used the default settings in Prusa Control. But its nice to know there are some custom ways to make it stronger :)
