Ender 3 Auto Shutdown after print system

I like it.
It may be easier to implement for people not familiar with electronics. And it's safer to apply.

The switching power supply is still energized-do you mind?

Yes. PSU is still energized. Rest of electronics is off.
It's like in PC PSU. It is always energized, but use minimal energy with no load.

I already have a relay laying around that is only rated for 10A, would this work?

From the current (amperage) point of view it's not enough. Will work for some time and relay contacts would degrade. Printer needs little more than 10A in peaks - when bed and nozzle are heated simultaneously.
The real issue is your relay voltage! Look. It's 5V.....
You need 24V for Enders and 12V for CR10 or similar.

Go to the nearest car parts shop and buy car relay. 12V is most popular. 24V (Ender printer) should be available if they sell truck parts.

Cant we just use a 9g servo to push power switch?

Yes, we can. But:

  • how to control servo without extra electronics?
  • how to not block acccess to power switch for manual operation?

The idea was to use g-code which is already managed by the priner.

May you explain your idea? It would be interesting to discuss and maybe even go this way.....

for the cr ~ 10 which is 12v the relay is needed or just put the switch? thank you

Hi.
Use 12V relay.
Pin order of the PSU is the same as for Ender.

I don't know if the cr ~ 10 has that yellow printer board connector, are there risks without relays? thank you

In this project relay is necessary. Yellow printer board connector may not be in your present.
Just find two wires connected to +V and -V leading to the mainboard.

ok i'll try but i'm not good at electronics. if I follow your first file and don't put the relay but only the switch there are risks? considering also that my printer is 12v

This project https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3333899/ may be done if you don't have relay.
Printer voltage is not important. The switch cuts off mains power just like an ordinary button.
Please, please be aware about need of proper insulation of all cable ends and welds. It's live voltage. I think relay version is better for you. You may use standard 12v car relay. Example attached.

Automatic Power Off after print

thanks for all the explanations, you were very kind

Hello. the same kind of editing for an end of filalment?

Hi. I don't think so.
End of filament is triggering Marlin's internal rules. Possibly stopping print and waiting for reload new one. After feeding it should continue.
Leaving unfinished work and powering off printer would be not ok.

Hey Mr. @ZXAtari do I need a closer or a opener Relais? Thank you!

Hi!
Use NO - normally open pair from relay. The idea is to save as much energy as possible. So no current for relay coil leaves circuit opened and printer off.
It's possible to use NC pair if you have no other. Schematic would be different then.

You readed mt mind. Love. I saved a lot of time :D Thanks!

Glad to help. That's why I wanted to share my project.
