Hi.
Great job. Congratulations. I have a doubt…. How do stern rudders work in X?
Thank you.

can you make the prop for people to make it a display model

Just wanted to share with you guys if you are looking for a 65mm brass propeller, I picked up a 6 blade brass one off ebay USA for under $30 US. Seller has 7 left. I am not sure if I can post it here, so please feel free to delete it if not allowed. I have nothing to gain by telling you other than to share the post. 65mm seems to be the ideal propeller size for the submarine. Anyway, here is the post. https://www.ebay.com/itm/6-Blade-65mm-173-16-Billing-Dumas-Raboesch-RC-brass-boat-propeller/143235851507?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

How much PLA is required for print? Thanks.

You can make it using only one spool (1Kg).

Much appreciated for the info!

Well I decide to make this. I see most people are printing it in PLA. My first one will be in PLA and then I try ABS. Any one have the Filament they use, the temp and temp of base and settings they used.

How did it turn out? What are you using for WTC and how long should it be?

Just finished printing and detailing mine , great work , the sub looks awesome...

What a beauty. Did it use several rolls of PLA/ABS? How many days to print? What are you using for WTC?

Just replied to your other questin , 1 spool of PLA (1Kg)
Printing time , for me , it took about one week , but i was not printing piece by piece one after the other...
I printed one piece per day...
9 pieces total , smaller pieces printed in bundle.

Excellent. Thank you for the feedback. I am going to print it next. Took a gamble with the homemade RC submarine file on Thingiverse and printed, but it leaves much to figure out on how to secure a WTC inside a 4" ABS pipe. With this build it appears to be easier add. Thanks again.

Awesome job on the detailing, it really lifts the apperance!

Im printing one too.....looks very nice so far. Takes a bit of time because the hull is as thick as it is :-) Thanks for making it. Do you have and parts for the 75mm WTC ?

Hello, This is an awesome project. I was wondering if there was anyone out there with better CAD juju than me who could split this for a smaller printer? would love to print section2 for example vertically rather than horizontally, and my makerbot Rep2 simply can't do it?

cheers

There are a few online programs that can slice one section in 2 pieces , the problem is , you will wont have enough material to glue them together again , only those thin walls.
I belive your printer can make those sections horizontally , just need to add supports.
It will just be a little dificult to conceal the overall finnish.
Im not sanding mine , it will scream 3d printed...

Yeah, i figured there might be, any suggestions as to what works well. I have access to Fusion360 and inventor but do not know if those will do it????
As far as gluing thm together, i can add plastic strips behind the walls to support and provide a place to make solid attachments.

I have just started printing these files as my new project , only now i saw these messages , that new sail looks great .
Will it be uploaded any time soon?
I was going to try to modify the original sail to make these mods and aplly a kind of a tube for a working periscope...

Sorry for the late reply, but I just uploaded the new version of the sail; "sail_v2"

Thanks ...
One question , can it be printed hollow , upside down?
Just so that the sail can also flood , or else its going to be another floating bit...

Edit: I just printed it , just had to remove the last layers (bottom) , its now hollow 5*****

By the way i made the sail a bit more scale and detailed ,i will upload the files when i test it first !

Is the sail suppose to fit ontop of the hull opening or rest in the slot area? I printed the sail revision and it doesn't fit in the hole area, it is bigger overall. Did this needed to be scaled down to fit the hull opening area? Wondering why there is a opening there in the hull to begin with that is on section 4 and 3.

i start printing mine ,it looks very good ,can i request something? Will be possible the torpedo hatches to be removed and be as individual parts from the main body? The reason i am asking is because by printing in one part will be very very hard to sanded smooth that front part without ruining the detail and imposible to sand in between the hull and the hatches !

I have uploaded a new version of the nose that has the hatches removed. They might not be that easy to print though, as they are slightly rounded on the underside. Might be printed best slightly lowered into the printbed, so that the underside of the hatches become more or less flat.

I can’t wait to see this when you have it done. I might have to make one for my nephew.
