Great idea but I wish it was about 3 times longer so the centre of your spool was lined up with the extruder and not pulling filament over the side of the spool. Just a ¼ of a roll come off the roll.

Nice without the need for extra screw but for a 750g spool it touchs the table if I the 3d printer if not on the side of a table (see image)

What nuts do you have to use? what are their diameters? i have to order new ones

Hi! just saw this comment. You shouldn't need anything other than what the printer came with. no nuts required, it just self taps with the screws that came with the spool holder.

Printed great and very functional. I do wish it mounted the spool out further as my spools are a pain to load if my Z access is down low. Also, the spool is touching my stepper motor wires. Have played with forward and reward loading. Otherwise an excellent solution.

...should have read the comments first. :D
Unfortunately, this design it is touching the stepper wire, a slightly longer version could solve the problem.

Fantastic model, thanks. All the "upgrades" to make the filament hang down more gracefully from the top of the printer are bandaid solutions. You solve the real problem, this is how the printer should be shipping!

FWIW, I flipped it around so my filament roll slides on from the back of the printer. It just feels less fiddly and I can move the roll closer to the extruder

Also for anyone wondering, I was worried about the self tapping holes but the stock screws go in nice and tight and I'm not worried about things coming loose at all
