Does it have to be a 5v fan? Also I like the design.

it would be suggested just because the out put voltage for USB is 5 volt other wise you will half to incorporate a power supply

What size of screws did you use to secure the fans to the base?

i just used the stock screws that came with the fans

This looks great, but can you add more details/pictures on setting it up? I’m assuming the fans blow in opposite directions, but close up wiring would help. Also it’s not clear where you would “melt holes” as you say,

sorry for the delay i have the fan blowing in the same direction the foam is pores enough for the air to escape as it go's the melt hole where just because i didn't have a Dremel tool to drill the holes so i used some hot wire and melted holes in to the upper portion of the plastic. photos attached to show wiring and where the holes are.
