Constraining the Z axis is very bad idea, because unless the rod is 100% straight (and leads screws never are) when you constrain the top of the rod the bend induces a "whip/wobble" effect which leads to artefacts in the print.

Does this mean this mod is a bad idea?

Yes don't lock them on both ends. it introduses more friction and also more wobble. The Chiron has idler wheels, those are there so the gantry cannot move around. let the z-screw move freely, like CalVinx said they are not 100% straight (even expensive ones). Even with ball-screwns you normally don't lock both ends. and if you do people normally losen the ball-nut so that one can move freely (Raise3D does that too).

How did you get the Cover off for Installing the Bearing?

That's correct

And how you get it off?

You need to unscrew the screw, then you need to pull-up the cover, and that's it.
