Is that a brim, or are you just happy to see me?

But seriously, I don't watch Dr Who either, is it a brim, or part of the actual...robot character thing?

I'm fairly certain that is a brim. I didn't model this thing I just ran it through NetFab to fix it.

I think it is about 2.5 inches tall or maybe 7 or 8cm. You should be able to scale it to whatever size you like. There other models on here that the weapons and eyeball thing too.

Thanks for a great model

But there's a bunch of overhangs... What parameters were you using? I'm guessing extra-shells was turned up a bit?

I printed mine with 1 extra shell and only 5% infill. There were a few things that kinda drooped a little but I was able to clean it up nicely with an exacto knife.

have you thought about making some weapons that could be printed along with it?  Would be easy enough to drill some small holes to fit them into.

I've heard that 3mm filament works well as their eyestalk. I remember seeing that on one of the first daleks on thingiverse. The zip file on this thing might have a weapon also. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:15362http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

New Paradigm Dalek

The funny thing about this thing is that I've never actually watched Dr Who.  I guess we'll have to leave weaponizing  them up to someone else because I have no idea what weapons they would use.

Hey MacGyver, very cool.

Great resolution on the part.  I was surprised it filled so dense, I thought I had it set for 50% infill but it kept filling every layer pretty much 100%.  I like that it's solid and it came out great, I was just surprised.

I'm giving it to my daughter who is just as much of a geek (and Dr. Who fan) as I am.
Thanks for making this!

I actually didn't design it, I just fixed the mesh on it.  I printed the blue one at 10% infill and the white one at 5%.  If you are using the new Sailfish firmware there is a bug I believe with Skeinforge 50 that will cause strange fill problems but usually it is when you are trying to print at 100% infill it would only print 50%.  I'm not sure what could be the issue.  Anyway I'm glad you like it.

Did you end up printing this with supports?

Looks awesome BTW :D

No support needed.  It printed pretty much how you see it in the photos.  The only thing I had to trim was some small loops from the three rings around the head.  If you look closely at the blue one you can see one of the loops I missed on the right side.

That's a very nice looking print!

Thanks!  Unfortunately before I fixed this model I printed out several of the original before I realized that the original model has some serious problems.  At least now I'm getting some good copies of this for my friend.
