NOTE: There is an improved version here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3219979
The improved version will stick on the wall by itself and looks less angle-y.
SInce we've taken to mounting our pen holders on walls, we're drilling a lot of holes. That makes dust. That makes sad. Suck up the sucky dust by sticking your hose into our sucker.
This takes a 1.25" hose (found on our cheap Stanley throw-away shop-vacs) and many others. It'll almost stay on the wall by itself, but not quite. The host fitting is a little sloppy, but it stays in by itself (and ya' gotta hold onto it anyway). We'll probably re-work this a bit, but out-of-the-box it worked great, and saved a lot of mess.
If there's interest we'll make a few different sizes of inlets, and taper them just a bit so it's a tad more secure (but it was perfectly fine as-is).
It's our opinion this doesn't print particularly well as designed with our MakerGear M3, at least with 10% support. Most everything is fine, but the underside of the dust disk and the bottom portion of the host connector are pretty stringy. It should be outstanding on the Form 2, which we'll try next.
The make highlights the (obvious in retrospect) notion of rotating it and just printing it vertically, possibly with supports in the crosshairs. We’ll post an image of that along with another inlet size or two then we’ll probably call it done-enough, although we’re itching to clean up the inlet shape a bit.
