Really great build!

A couple comments:

  • You can eliminate the usb breakout/extension piece if you make your wires long enough and rotate the entire assembly of featherboard and propmaker by 180 degrees (this puts the featherboard's usb port pointing up towards the blade). Saves you a couple bucks and some more soldering
  • I wired the second button to the enable/ground via a latching switch. This makes it so the Featherboard isn't running all the time. A few code modifications, check out my Make for github link.

Lightsaber Blade for Adafruit Prop-Maker

Is there a reason why the one part doesn't cover the electronics? Is there a version of the file that does or a separate file that is the cover?

Thanks. I don’t have the capability to print multiple materials. I actually used the Fusion model and created just the cover as you have but I added tabs in the underside. I then printed in flexible pla so I could put it on and take it off.

I’ll have to give this one a shot even if I just print in one material.

Thanks again,

FYI, the saber cap seems to be the wrong size. It's an easy fix but seems like an odd error.

I got the electronics running today. I'm still unclear on the use of the "extra" red button. I wired it in to the IRQ and the forth hole on the opposite side of the board like the sample photo. All functions seem to work (sounds, lights, strikes, etc) but the "extra" button doesn't seem to function.

All I need to finish is the blade light diffusion and some tiny hardware to mount the boards. M3 is too big and that's all I had on hand.

Anyone locate the

Mounting bracket for the Adafruit Prop-Maker FeatherWing.

Ops, looks like we missed those files. Just uploaded, try em out :) Thanks for the heads up!

Thank you will be printing now, the other printed very nicely!!
How many mounting brackets do we need? 1 or 2 of each ?

I've been waiting for this learn guide since the teaser. I can't wait to get started... as soon as more Prop-Maker Wings get back in stock!

That was quick. The Prop Maker Wings are back in stock! Time to brush up on my duel extruder skills. I've not messed with it since I bought the printer several years ago and the slicer support was not that great back then.
