For non-flat meshes you could also make a hub with five sockets instead of six, for a geodesic style of curvature.

What I found when I looked at other printed fabrics, is that they all seemed a bit fragile, so I set my sights on strong. This mesh is very strong, however it's a bit heavy, I may make a lightweight version. The hood you see weights just over 1kg now (I've added some to it).

I've seen many designs for 3d-printed mash, and this looks the most functional from all i have seen!
