My main objection to using jam jars and mason jars is that the aesthetic of drinking from a jar with screw threads is against any civilized notion of drinking from a cup. I (maybe al humans?) want a smooth edge when I drink, not a complexity of surfaces. A design that uses plastic to meet the top of the glass may succeed, but only if it is very thin, and this design will only succeed as a clever addition that adds less to function than design.

I really want to remix this to have 2 handles for my toddler...

Hi all: what type of plastic should I use to print this mug holder? is general purpose plastic ok, heat resistant plastic, or something else? Many thanks!

SECOND LIFE MUG?! this is the FOREVER mug

Anyone use PLA for this?

I just did today, posted the results. Haven't tried with very hot liquid yet.

What printer do you have and what material did you use?

Can use both PLA and ABS. It depends on the print volume of your printer. This print is W, D, H: 125.5, 88.9, 82.7 mm. Unless you resize it.

wich material is the most adapted for using it with hot coffee ?

Hey guys, I've scaled it up to also fit the 750grams jars of Bonne Maman, currently printing it (takes 2,5 hours) so when it's done and it works I can share the enlarged STL with you if you like :)

greetings - I'm late to the party but I would love to get a handle for the 750g jars

Soon to be leaving thingiverse because of Makerbot's behavior towards open source.

Very nice... love the idea :D

wow, that´s awesome ;-)

This is a great idea! I just make a remix, a Customizer version ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:337843http://www.thingiverse.com/thi... ), so that you can generate one for different jar sizes. I put in measurements for a narrow and wide canning jar, and a 2 Liter bottle. It's a work in progress - the dimensions for the canning jars are from the specs for the jars, but I haven't printed and tested them yet. The 2 liter bottle threads fit very well (I've used them before).

Great idea, I see remixes in your future

I 2nd that, does this work with mason jars?

Congratulations on being featured!

Does this work with mason jars?

Unfortunately, ( and since Masson jars are not an international standard) they probably won't work with the continious fillet of a masson jar. The jars we use have six small fillets (pickle jars, etc.)

Thanks, for the response. I was just wondering because the size of the jar in the images looks close to the regular sized wide mouth mason jars. I didn't know that there was an international standard out there in the glass jar world. Learn something new everyday.
I'll have to hit amazon up for some jars. Thanks,

Also, Mason jars have a wide bead at the base of the thread, for the lids to tighten down against, and they widen below that, and this design requires the jars to be straight down from the threads.
I believe that my remix should work with Mason jars.
