Are you powering this from the bot or does it need it's own power supply?

I power it from the bot!
The god thing with Ikea Ledberg (and Dioder) is that it just needs 12Vdc, the resistors are included in the strip.
You can power it directly from the 12V outlet of the electronics fan, the voltage regulator on the board can easily handle it.

But as I power LEDs, 3 fans, soon 4 and maybe some other stuff later I made my own little board with a 7812 regulator and a passive heatsink so I do not overload the UM board.

I feed my little board with the "19VDc LEDS " contacts found near the two green leds on the electronics board. It is basically the raw input voltage from the power supply.
It is on as soon as you power the machine on, but I added a switch at the back of the machine to turn it off when I want.

Some people power their leds in parallel with the nozzle fan, which is PWM regulated (can be dimmed), but you have light only when the nozzle fan is on...
