I've printed this as-is. When first put together the leg joints were quite tight, but now they're loosening up too much to hold the body weight. I'm going to try and hollow out the abdomen to see if that helps with both the weight and print time.

Nice model though (even if some of the people at work aren't keen) :)

the middle leg needs to be scaled UP 7.5% it is too small to fit the ball joints of the other leg segments. i have a print scaled down to 60% and works fine. And smaller an the leg sockets will be too brittle.

You can get the individual leg parts from the original object, which has them separated as well as grouped, as I have included on this one. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2583610

I never modified them, though I agree, the leg joints are quite loose.

Has anyone tried scaling this back?

Ok just tried at 50 percent and it worked.

So, I tried printing out the Giant Posable Halloween Spider using the original stl files yesterday at 25%. The legs are pretty tiny at that scale, and the smallest segments are pretty fragile. Just getting them off my print bed without complete destroying them was pretty impossible. Also, one of the little antenna or whatever near the mouth half snapped off and needed to be glued back together. I'd say that 1/4 scale is too small to be practical as all the small bits are impossibly fragile. I might try redesigning the legs to make them all one item, but then you'd lose the poseable feature.

I tried printing the abdomen at 25%as a test, but that's all I did. But they turned out fine. There's a comment on the original thing that might help you.

"Printed a 1/4 scale one tonight. All is good but the leg tip segment looks like it will need to be glued."

If you're going to go smaller, you might just want to use the original files, without the split abdomen.
