Hi. Is there a reason not to make it exactly like the original one?

A better question would be is there a good reason to make it exactly like the “original” one?

But to answer your question:

  1. I don’t want to duplicate and share someone else’s work when they are obviously making and selling them. It’s a dick move.
  2. I wanted something that was a bit more like what I interpreted the actual skull might be, as opposed to a 3D model of the emblem (not all mythosaur skulls would have a lightning bolt crack)

Not that it was your plan to do so, but I know people are printing these and selling them (also a dick move as these are shared as non-commercial...I don’t even sell them). Ripping off other people’s work and selling it as your own sucks. Copying other people’s work and offering it for free on Thingiverse sucks.

Second the previous comments--any suggestions on supports or printing orientation? Cura wants to make this thing float...

I do actually print it where it “floats”...,pretty much as it is in the preview. Supports under the whole thing.

What's the suggestion on supports and infill?

Looks Great!!! Thanks!

I print it where it “floats”...,pretty much as it is in the preview. Supports under the whole thing. Infill would depend on size, but just standard stuff.

This is so awesome! Would it be possible to separate the tusks and the bottom/long part of the skull into separate pieces for even bigger printing on standard size printers? (i.e. 220x220)

Hey man I'd like to tip you, I've painted a few of these and sold them would love to send you some cash but tipping is not enabled for you.

Much appreciated. I have added an account in case you're still feeling inclined.

Anytime man, I sent ya some cash I work the tips into my price when I sell any item someone else designed. I posted the one I did on my craft page and got 3 more orders. I will continue to kick you a few bucks ever sale. You put in the hard work, making the model all I did was sand prep and paint it. I really appreciate you sharing your art for free enjoy some beers or coffee on me.

Anytime, thanks man. I normally don't like making anything more than once but I've tried several different techniques for making that bone look so it's been fun testing. I'm going to try your dye technique next any tips? Also was your filament white before adding the dye?

Yeah, just standard white PLA. The leather dye works pretty well, but will grey out if you don’t hit it with a UV clear. Just work in layers, you get the hang of it pretty quick. (Wear gloves)

its an on goimg process these people think that just because its here its free to take and sell. I hear it all the time but I found it on the interent.

as soon as I get home Ill take a picture of his card and his website address

Thanks. I just did a quick Etsy search and found a couple people selling it there too....yeesh.
