Question: On the pictures there is with the mittle bar attached and without. what should i use?

And with the files added is there a part missing for the belt tentioner?

The tensioner is if you remove the aluminium the old wheels are rolling on correct?

Yes, the middle aluminum bar and the wheels have been removed

can you tell me the size of the screws needed to attach the back-plate for the bed motor?. .

Thanks, yeah I was thinking about this, so far the 8mm rods are fine but there's bit of a flex to it and 12mm would make things stiffer, this would be my next project. There would be at least a 10mm lost on the z-axis is what I can see so far

Well 10mm los on Z is acceptable for me... now I have much more loss on it, with my current mount. I was looking for an more stable and precise mount solution with less los on Z.

I was thinking of using those self lubricating copper sleeves, they are thin and could further minimize the z-axis loss, unlike the conventional LMU or igus bearings. I have no timeline yet so keep watching this thing :)

I currently use the Igus Drylin RJ4JP-01-12. I am very satisfied with these. I had cheap china bearings before and they was aweful. Would you mind to share the model, that I could modify it myself ? I share the modified stl then.

I've attached the step file for the rod_holder, for the other parts like the bearing blocks, you will have to design your own

I was thinking of trying to do something like this myself, but here it is already.


Very cool. What is the upside of printing the bearings instead of buying them? Is it just the satisfaction of doing it, because I’m down with that too. In any case, great job.

I do have a question. In top of having a CR-10S, I also have a CR-10S S5. Do you think this could be adapted for that size printer? I’m sure that size printer would greatly benefit from something like this. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

One big advantage of the printed bearing is that you can make adjustments to the size. I find the Igus too snug against the rods when already in the blocks.

For sure this can be adopted for the S5, the rod holder and blocks will have to be widened to maximize stability. Also a new drill guide has to be made
